🗓 Saturday 15 November
🕛 12:00 – 2:00pm
📍 No Vacancy Gallery
🎟️ $20 — all profits donated to Made in Palestine
As part of our Limitless Play takeover at No Vacancy Gallery, this hands-on workshop invites artists and creatives to create their first interactive art piece.
Guided by Touch Collective, you’ll learn how to transform your existing or future artworks into responsive, evolving systems using TouchDesigner and MediaPipe.
Through this session, you’ll explore how artworks can sense, react, and come alive through interaction — whether it’s motion, sound, or data. You’ll walk away with the tools and understanding to start weaving interactivity into your own practice.
What you’ll learn:
• The core principles of interactivity — how artworks can respond to sound, movement, or data
• How to prototype ideas using real-time visual tools like TouchDesigner
• How to build a simple interactive system that responds to user or environmental input
• A conceptual and practical foundation to develop your own interactive installations or performances
Who it’s for:
Artists, designers, and creatives curious about integrating technology or interactivity into their practice. No coding or technical background needed — just a laptop, curiosity, and a willingness to experiment.
What to bring:
• Laptop (Mac or Windows)
• TouchDesigner (Non-Commercial Edition) installed — free download at derivative.ca/download
• Provided project file (emailed prior to the session)
• Mouse (strongly recommended)
• Optional: headphones or a small artwork/video file to experiment with
This workshop takes place inside the exhibition space, offering a calm and inspiring atmosphere to create while the show is open to the public. Guests are encouraged to browse the exhibition 'Limitless Play' before or after the session.
Spots are limited – bookings essential.
