Some notes and details from our lovely tour guide Lærke:
This isn’t your typical walking tour; it’s a curated collection of my personal recommendations, including many of the spots that made me fall in love with the area over and over again.

What to expect:
Discover a charming and nostalgic side of Tokyo on a gentle guided walk through the Yanesen area (Yanaka, Ueno Sakuragi, and Nezu). Together we’ll wander through traditional streets, stop by small local shops, taste neighbourhood treats, and uncover a few hidden gems that make this area feel so warm and special. Along the way you’ll visit…

  • SCAI THE BATHHOUSE, a contemporary art gallery located inside a beautifully preserved former onsen

  • An ancient Himalayan cedar tree, quietly standing watch over the neighbourhood

  • Yanaka Ginza, for street food, local snacks, and charming little shops

  • The tranquil grounds of Nezu Shrine

  • A slow creative moment of journaling and matcha sipping at Miyano-Yu

It’s an unhurried walk designed to help you experience this nostalgic corner of Tokyo the way I fell in love with it - slowly, thoughtfully, and with plenty of time to notice the little details
