Translating Textiles into Memory: A South-Asian Blockprinting Workshop
Come learn to carve and print at this south-asian inspired blockprinting workshop! Blockprinting is a technique used across south asian textiles, adorning bedsheets and curtains to scarves and shalwar kameezes. In this workshop we’ll learn about general motifs used in these textiles, carve some blocks, and print them on paper.
Through this process, we build our own relationships to South Asian visual culture and memory that has built a rich textile history. Everyone will walk away with a small block of their own creation, along with their own prints!
