FRC hike: Montserrat hike to Sant Jeroni

Montserrat – Sant Jeroni Group Hike
Dear runners, the time has come for a walk!
Montserrat is simply spectacular. Unique rock formations, wide open views, and from Sant Jeroni, on a clear day, you can grasp a unique sight of the Pyrenees. If you haven’t been, it’s a must.
Plan for Sunday, April 19
📍 Montserrat (starting from the monastery)
🎯 Sant Jeroni (1,236 m)
📏 Elevation gain: ~600 m
⏱️ Total duration: ~5h30–6h (including breaks and picnic)
Schedule
🕘 Meeting point: 8:45 at Plaça d’Espanya (FGC, R5 platforms)
🚆 Train R5: 9:06 → Monistrol de Montserrat
🚞 Rack railway up to Monestir de Montserrat
⬆️ Direct ascent to Sant Jeroni (~2h30 at group pace)
⬇️ Descent via Sant Joan Funicular
🍴 Picnic at Mirador de Sant Joan
🏛️ Quick visit of the monastery at the end

Cost
The hike itself is free!
Transport (train + rack railway): ~40€ round trip
Buy an FGC return ticket to Monistrol de Montserrat at the station (ticket machines at Plaça d’Espanya)
Once there, we will buy the rack railway (cremallera) ticket separately
Note
The final stretch to the summit includes some exposed sections.
If you’re uncomfortable with heights, you can stop before the top—no problem.
