Founders+Mentors Meetup
Event Overview
Join us for an electrifying afternoon where aspiring startup founders connect, share ideas, and level up with top-tier mentors from Venture Mechanics. Come explore whether your idea is truly venture-scale and fundable in today's competitive climate. Experience high-energy networking alongside our signature Open-Mic Pitch Slam. No pitch deck, just raw passion and real-time feedback in a casual safe space.
Invaluable Peer Networking
Hang out with other founders to vet your idea(s) for a venture-scale startup, or to meet a founder whose vision you can get behind as a co-founder. Share insights from your individual journeys, such as your favorite AI tools, the most productive founder events to attend in town, and suggested partnerships that could help you get that marketing wedge you really need to launch fast.
Mentor Access
Engage in direct conversations with Venture Mechanics Catapult Program mentors who are ready to pressure-test your vision for market fit and scalability. Of the hundreds of mentors in our program there are always some attending these meetups who can help with go-to-market strategy, funding strategy, and other key areas of advice.
The Pitch Slam (3pm)
Join the pitch slam to share your startup idea with the crowd. Just grab the mic and tell the crowd what your idea is about in 3 minutes, with a couple of minutes of Q&A. You can sign up here to pitch (cutoff is two days before the event). Not sure what to include in a 3-minute pitch? Use our 3-Minute Pitch Madlibs Guide.
This isn't a one-and-done kind of thing. Founders come back again and again to try out their new "material" as they pivot to new strategies and try out different messaging to get their concepts across.

Q&A
Q: Where are these meetups held?
A: We move them around Seattle, and sometimes even other locations in the state, to give founders everywhere an opportunity to easily participate.
Q: Is there a cost?
A: This depends on the venue. Most of the time there is a $20 cost to help cover venue rental and light snacks and beverages. There are sponsorship opportunities available to zero out the price of admission. There is no additional cost to participate in the Pitch Slam.
Q: How do I know if my idea is ready to pitch to a live audience?
A: Any seasoned entrepreneur will tell you that the only way to get good at pitching is to eventually stand up in front of a live audience and practice, practice, practice until your messaging and delivery get smooth. Still not sure you should? See our blog article From Panic to Precision: Practicing Your Way to a Fundable Pitch
Q: What's the parking situation?
A: At the Mercer Island Community Center parking is free, and it's also a short walk from the Park & Ride bus and light rail station.
