Seeding the Future: Building K–12 Pathways to Green Careers in the Bronx
This roundtable will explore how Bronx-based K–12 schools, after-school programs, youth development organizations, and workforce partners can collaborate to expose students early to green careers. It will identify ways to integrate environmental literacy, sustainability themes, and hands-on learning experiences into the academic pipeline to create clear and equitable pathways into the green economy.
Preparing young people to lead in a climate-conscious economy begins long before job training. This roundtable will bring together educators, youth organizers, workforce leaders, and environmental advocates to design a shared strategy for cultivating early exposure to green industries. Together, we will explore models for curriculum integration, green-themed career days, summer programs, internships, and project-based learning that spark interest in sustainability, climate solutions, and environmental justice from an early age. The session will inform how the Bronx Green Jobs Center can collaborate with schools and community-based organizations to extend the reach of its mission to the next generation of Bronx leaders.
