Europe needs a different economy – one in which not quantity and consumption are key, but quality and equality. From more to better. To explore what this means and how to get there, we welcome two lead thinkers from the Netherlands: Paul Schenderling and Babette Porcelijn.
Paul is a renowned Dutch economist and author. He is co-founder of Postgroei Nederland, a growing movement with the mission: a happier Europe that lives within the carrying capacity of people and the earth. Paul will talk about his new book: Europe: Continent of Quality.
Babette is a renowned industrial designer, researcher and author of The Hidden Impact (over 30,000 copies sold). With her organisation Think Big Act Now. She maps the invisible environmental costs of Western consumption and inspires people to live an eco-positive life — making sustainability concrete and actionable. In her newest book Trias Economica, she proposes a new economic model that separates economic powers to make the economy more democratic.
The evening will be moderated by Lara Sibbing, member of the Commons Hub and of Postgroei NL and Jeroen Janss, co-founder of the Inner Green Deal. As change asks for more than knowledge only, Lara and Jeroen will take care of an interactive evening that touches your head, your heart, and your hands. Together with you they will explore what a quality economy and a Trias Economica look and feel like and how to build these.
