Lack of Words Writing Club #8
Welcome to the Lack of Words Writing Club! Created and run by clbhuis partner Tyler and community member Juul, every month starts with a thought-provoking prompt.
You write up to 1,000 words - any genre, any style. Then we meet, read aloud, and give each other some honest feedback. From mushroom trips to family sagas, our conversations turn these friendly strangers into strange friends. The vibe is cozy. snacks on the table, wine in your glass.
Our Partnership:
This month we're partnering with Rebel Wines for a special edition of Lack of Words. The team at Rebel Wines will select a red and white wine pairing to match this month's theme.
Your ticket includes 1 glass of wine, with additional glasses available for purchase.
May Prompt: Murmuration
The strange beauty of moving with others so completely that the boundary between self and the group begins to blur. Not into sameness, but into pattern, force and grace. Where the individual disappears into the collective, and something greater takes shape.
Write about a moment or experience, lived or imagined. An essay, poem, a piece of fiction or non-fiction. Any form is welcome.
To Participate:
RSVP so we know you’re coming. Send in your your piece (max 1,000 words) by Monday April 20 to [email protected].
Event Schedule:
19:00 – Arrival. Snacks and drinks provided.
19:10 – We gather at the table. Printed copies of the texts are handed out (no laptops).
19:15 – Quick introduction.
19:25 – Reading begins.
19:30 – Each participant reads aloud a part or the entirety of their piece.
After each reading, we dive into a guided group discussion:
What does the piece mean to you?
Where are the strongest parts?
Where could it improve?
The writer then shares their process and intentions behind the piece. Pieces written and shared within Lack of Words have the opportunity to be offered a feature in our snail mail club, Olive & Ink.
