Amsterdam | Kokedama Crafting & Tea
Hosted in partnership with Youplant Amsterdam
📍 Loods6 | KNSM Eiland
🗓 Sunday, February 15
🕞 15:30–17:00
Join us for a slow, grounding afternoon of plants, moss, and tea as we explore kokedama—the traditional Japanese art of growing plants in hand-shaped soil balls wrapped in moss and twine. Part sculpture, part plant care ritual, kokedama transforms greenery into living objects designed to be displayed, suspended, or gently rested in your home.
Led by Youplant Amsterdam, this hands-on workshop invites you to:
Learn the origins and philosophy behind kokedama
Shape and bind your own soil ball by hand
Wrap and secure your plant using moss and natural materials
Explore different display and hanging options
Receive practical care tips to keep your kokedama thriving
You’ll leave with your own handmade kokedama and a new, accessible plant-growing technique, no prior experience required.
🍵 Your ticket includes:
All materials to create one kokedama (plant, soil, moss, twine of different colors for customizing)
Gloves (optional, if you prefer not to work directly with soil)
Tea and filtered coffee served throughout the workshop
A bag to safely transport your kokedama home
Macrame holder for hanging your kokedama
💡 Good to know:
No previous plant experience is needed
We recommend avoiding white or light-colored clothing, just in case
Kokedama is beginner-friendly and surprisingly forgiving
