Long Now London 2511 - FLASH TALKS!
TL/DR
Six short talks from members of our community: learnings from the past, looking forward to possible futures, and the challenges and opportunities of life in these interesting times, all interspersed with our usual socialising and lively discussion.
📬 Please book your place soon via Luma as places are limited and we know interest is high for this one.
📖 Some context: It has been a while since we have had a speaker. We are excited to have six of our regulars sharing more of their work and insight than we might otherwise pry out of them over a drink. These are short talks, so the presenters have been encouraged to experiment (whatever that might mean to them!).

🍹Timings
Doors open at 18:30. Please aim to arrive by 19:00. If you are earlier than that, there is a decent pub over the road.
Introductions & talks will begin at 19:15.
Each presentation will be five minutes exactly. We will have three talks with time for questions, then a break, then three more talks.
Discussion will no doubt continue after the talks and eventually move over the road to the pub.
The intention is for these talks to be recorded, but as ever our focus is on the in person experience, so if you can get here, be here and join the conversation. 😁

🎤 About our speakers
🧠 In alphabetical order (not necessarily the order they will be speaking!) our list of speakers is currently Bryan Kam; Hardeep Kaur; Isabel Serval; Lisa Randisi; Pravar Petakar, and Rina Atienza.
💡 Topics covered are likely to include philosophy, stewardship, futures, archaeology, anthropology, geopolitics and very possibly some mystical/esoteric matters (i.e. our usual mix).

🏛️ Where - new location & new possibilities
Our host venue for the coming months is just off the Strand, near to St Clement Danes church and the Royal Courts of Justice. Please RSVP to see the exact location.
At the moment, the space is quite basic (just tables and chairs). We have the possibility to help it be more in the coming months. All ideas are very welcome.

🍻 What to bring & what to take away
🍾We are meeting in a private location so this is a BYOB gathering, including alcohol.
🍽️ You are welcome to bring food (including things to share) but please avoid anything too pungent or that might cause logistical challenges either during or after consumption.
♻️ Please be prepared to leave the venue cleaner than we found it. This may include taking our rubbish away with us.
☕Hot water will be available if you want to bring teas and suchlike. This is something we are keen to encourage.
🥄We have mugs and glasses and plates there already too. Our lovely hosts do try to leave us with everything we might need.

🍹 About these gatherings
Long Now London is a group of people who share an interest in long-term thinking. We have been gathering in a variety of formats, locations and frequencies since 02008. Since 02018 we have met on the second Thursday of the month, usually in a pub, sometimes in a park, and online when necessary. 🍻
🌎 We are an independent local group inspired by the work of the Long Now Foundation and using their name with permission. Over the years our gatherings have developed their own distinct character and ethos, a reflection of our differing locale both on the planet and within human culture and history.
We meet for a variety of activities throughout the year, but our monthly gatherings encourage conversations about long-term thinking, 📡 deep time, 🏺 history, 🖌️ art, 🔭 futures, 🛰️ technology, 🔧 maintenance, a wide range of -ologies and -isms depending on the crowd. 🔎
🌍 We are in regular dialogue with other such groups around the world. 🌏 If you would like to be put in touch with like-minded people where you are, please do get in touch.
Oh, and we write the year with an additional digit at the front to guard against the deca-millennium bug; 🦠 to encourage our minds towards further horizons, and also because it’s fun.
