Maker Basics: Laser Cutting

​Ready to learn the laser cutter?

​In under two hours, you'll:

• ​Discover how CO2 Laser Cutting works and what you can create

• ​Learn about different material types and their suitability for cutting and engraving

• ​Get hands-on with our Omtech Pronto 90W and learn a repeatable safety procedure which will allow you to use the machine independently

• ​Work with Lightburn software to complete two training projects: a simple keychain and an element of our Maker Basics Trophy

​With practical demos, examples, and a few creative challenges, you’ll leave with a strong grasp of these technologies and the confidence to bring your own projects to life.

​​⚠️ This workshop focuses on basic tools and techniques. The point is to get your hands on the tools so you can come back and use the workshop on your own. You will not complete your own project in this workshop.

​​⚠️ Some of the machinery in the FabLab may be dangerous, and all participants are required to sign a liability waiver before attending.

​​About FabLab Neukölln

​​The FabLab Neukölln is a collaboration powered by 42berlin and workish.berlin. It’s a maker space, creative workshop, and hardware lab, right here in Neukölln.

​​The 150sqm FabLab is split into two. A dirt lab with woodworking and metal working equipment, perfect for making dust and loud noises. Across the hall, you’ll find a clean lab equipped with a 3D printer, laser cutter, and textile lab where your electronics or more delicate projects can come to life.
